Have you ever considered a raw diet for your dog? If so, there are six steps that can be helpful to remember when doing this!

First, it is important to balance the protein and fat in a raw diet. Fats should make up ten to twenty percent of the diet. Fats and proteins are important, as they are the main energy source for your pup. The second step involves calcium and minerals. Bones are important to raw diets, and should make up 10 to 15 percent of it. Bones contain calcium, and without bones in your dog’s daily meals, your pup can contract different bone and joint diseases.

The next step is to add in organ meat. Liver is one of the most important organs to include in this new routine, and it should be 10 percent. Heart is important too, and should be 5 percent of the diet. Organs are a great multivitamin! The fourth step is to balance the fats. A raw diet should contain 10 to 20 percent fat. Saturated fats need to be kept low, as too much of this fat can negatively impact your dog’s gut or microbiome. Omega fats should also be balanced, as they help to control your pup’s inflammatory and immune system.

The fifth step is to add in some fruits and veggies for about 10 percent of this new feeding system. Vegetables like broccoli, kale, and brussel sprouts help to fight cancer and are anti-inflammatory. Finally, step six is to complete the balanced diet with adding in additional Vitamin D and Manganese.
